Carter admitted he never spoke with the musician about the incident as he concluded: 'I never asked him about it, and we never mentioned it. When I woke up in the morning, he was gone from the room.'. At the time, Carter's representatives spoke out against the memoir and released a statement which read: 'This is a time for mourning and reflection, not heartless money grabs and attention seeking.'.
