TV gardening icon Alan Titchmarsh was visibly moved to tears on ITV1's Love Your Garden after he arrived to assist a family in revamping their garden. The show, which airs weekly on ITV1, follows Alan and his team as they traverse the nation aiding those in need of garden makeovers. In a particularly touching episode from June 2023, broadcast for the first time, Alan visited Nottinghamshire to meet 32-year-old Daniel Bradbury and his family, including two young children.

Emotions ran high when Alan discovered that Daniel is among the youngest individuals in the UK diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. While planning the garden transformation, Alan reminded his team: "The other thing we must remember while we're doing this is that Daniel was a landscape gardener when he was diagnosed.".

He added, "He's one of ours isn't he.." before being overwhelmed with emotion and starting to cry. "We've got to look after him haven't we. We'll do him proud," he resolved, reported the Express. Alan expressed his heartfelt commitment: "As one man of soil to another, I'm determined to give Daniel and his family a garden to be proud of." The team then tackled the challenge of transforming a large, neglected area overrun with weeds and patchy grass into an enchanting retreat featuring figure of eight paths, trees, shrubs, wildflowers, a garden room, and a dining space with a pergola, outdoor kitchen, and seating.

They also added a water feature and a playhouse designed to stimulate learning for the two toddlers in the family. Daniel was overcome with emotion as he was invited to witness the team's remarkable efforts and the garden's unrecognisable transformation. "Thank you very much," Daniel said, his eyes welling up with tears as he took in the surroundings while being supported by his wife and Alan.
