Call the Midwife has shared a preview of Sunday night’s episode as BBC viewers are set to see Trixie Aylward (played by Helen George) fight to save Nonnatus House. In the short clip, fans can see the fan-favourite look almost unrecognisable as she swaps her nurse uniform.

Instead, the beloved character is seen wearing a stylish blue midi skirt with a matching blazer. Underneath, a baby blue collared shirt can be seen as she accessorised the ensemble with black heels and a tan briefcase. In the clip, Trixie is seen having a serious conversation with Sister Julienne (Jenny Agutter), who declares the Board of Health has declared war on Nonnatus House. Clearly taken aback by the news, Sister Julienne continues: "They do not like that the Order are, by definition, religious sisters.”.

Actress Jenny has spoken about the unfolding storyline, admitting Sister Julienne is pleased to have Trixie around as she puts her forward to speak to the council. Detailing her character’s role in the plot, Helen George added: “She’s very much taken under Sister Julienne’s wing in order to fight for the survival of Nonnatus House, and she fights, as ever, pretty hard.”.

Elsewhere, Trixie is seen telling Sister Julienne that the council are using her so that they can save money. It wasn’t long before people commented on the fight to save Nonnatus House and Trixie’s involvement. One person said: “Trixie is a warrior.” Another fan replied: “You mess with her at your peril!”.
