We've all been there - you finally pluck up the courage to go for a jog, only to find that your earphones fall out every five minutes. But the days of constantly shoving your earphones back in are finally a thing of the past, thanks to Beats' latest innovation. The Apple-owned tech giant has unveiled the Powerbeats Pro 2, which it describes as the 'ultimate fitness earphones'. The £249.95 earphones feature an earhook and a choice of five tip sizes, ensuring the buds stay in whether you encounter rain, snow, or just a whole load of sweat.

What's more, they feature built-in heart rate monitors, which track your pulse through your ears. Ahead of their official launch, Beats sent MailOnline's Shivali Best a pair of the Powerbeats Pro 2 to try out. I'm currently training for the London Marathon in April and have been struggling to find a pair of headphones that are comfortable, have a decent battery life, and don't slide out of my ears as I get progressively sweatier.

Thankfully, with just over two months to go, I think I've found what I've been looking for in the Powerbeats Pro 2. 'Music has always been a key motivator in my training, and these earphones take an already iconic product to the next level.'. Like their predecessor, the earphones feature an earhook, although this has been given an important upgrade. This time, the hook has been reinforced with a nickel titanium alloy, which makes them 20 per cent lighter, and provides improved flexibility, grip, and comfort. Users can choose between five tip sizes for the perfect fit, with options ranging from Extra Small through to Extra Large.

Release date: 13 February. Battery: 45 hours of battery life with the charging case. Key features: Active Noise Cancellation (including Transparency Mode), heart rate monitoring, voice isolation. The earphones feature LED optical sensors, which pulse over 100 times per second to measure your blood flood. As your exercise, this information can be relayed to various fitness apps in real-time. At launch in the UK, this includes Open, Peloton, Runna, Slopes, Ladder, Nike Run Club, and YaoYao.

Japanese baseball star, Shohei Ohtani, one of the first athletes to test the Powerbeats Pro 2 out, said: 'Tapping in to your heart is important whether you're an athlete on the biggest stage or just getting started.'. One of the key features that was missing in the original Powerbeats Pro was active noise cancellation. Thankfully, Beats has addressed this issue in the new device, with the choice of full noise cancellation or transparency mode.

If you're the kind of person who likes taking calls while you workout, you'll also be happy to hear that Beats has introduced improved connection and controls. Each earbud is fitted with a voice accelerometer and three advanced microphones. During calls, the earbuds use a combination of advanced computational audio and AI to activate Voice Isolation, which reduces background noise and isolates your voice - so the recipient is trying to hear you over the clanging and banging of the gym.
