A bride has shared the moment she knew she was marrying the wrong man - claiming her body was literally 'rejecting' him. TikTok user Kelly shared a clip of her at the altar in a white gown and veil during her wedding ceremony, taken seven years ago when she was in her late teens.

In the clip, she looks nervous - looking off to the side, coughing and glancing up at the groom, who was standing out of frame. 'My body literally rejecting him on my wedding day,' she wrote on the TikTok. 'I should have ran,' she added. In the caption, Kelly, who now has a new partner with whom she shares a baby boy, added: 'Not to mention the hair falling out and dress ripping.'.

Kelly delved into her story more in a follow-up video, admitting she had never been interested in getting married, so thought it was normal wedding day nerves. 'Looking back now after leaving such a horrible relationship, I can see things clearer,' she explained.

Kelly says she left her husband after she found out she 'had been cheated on.'. 'I haven't spoken to him since. I up and left,' she explained. Users shared their own experiences of their bodies trying to tell them something was wrong. 'I fainted on my wedding day. I remember one of my guests coming up to me at the reception and saying "sometimes our bodies are trying to tell us something and we just don't know it yet,"' one user shared on the video.

'When the warning signs feel like butterflies,' wrote another. 'I became allergic to my wedding ring a few months before finding out he was cheating,' another person shared. Many people have reported experiencing 'body rejection,' which is a way the body's nervous system lets the body know someone isn't good for them through physical symptoms. According to Well and Good, 'chronic stress from unhealthy dynamics' can result in physical consequences, which people can then choose to interpret as signs that a relationship is unhealthy.

According to Frankie Bashan, a board-certified sex therapist and creator of Little Gay Book, this has everything to do with the mind-body connection. 'More specifically, the key role your vagus nerve plays in your nervous system,' she told Well and Good.

'The vagus nerve is a major cranial nerve that "regulates our parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for maintaining homeostasis," or rest in the body,' she added. It's common for toxic relationships to cause such physical symptoms, according to Dr. Michael Lam, an adrenal fatigue expert.

'Each stressful interaction in your toxic relationships will trigger cortisol production, and your adrenals will become exhausted after a while. This is how you end up getting Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome (AFS), even if you're leading an otherwise healthy lifestyle,' he explained on his website.

'Symptoms of AFS include fatigue, weight gain, sleep problems, brain fog, anxiety, mild depression, dry skin, hair loss, loss of libido, PMS, infertility, estrogen dominance, lowered immunity, hypoglycemia, salt and sugar cravings, food and drug sensitivities, and heart palpitations.'.
