Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy's Wagatha Christie court case at the English High Court quickly became one of the most infamous celebrity court cases of all time. And in a new chat about exactly what went down, I'm A Celebrity runner-up Coleen reveals just how much she was affected by Rebekah's decision to sue her for libel.
The WAGS went up against each other in the London court in Summer 2022, three years after Coleen outed Rebekah as the person responsible for a number of leaks about private stories from her Instagram account, signing off her post with "It's...... Rebekah Vardy's account".
Now, as 38-year-old Coleen is no doubt supporting her husband Wayne Rooney after his sacking as manager of Plymouth Argyle, she's spoken out about what she calls "the lowest" she's ever been, even with her husband's support. Speaking to the Stick to Football podcast, Coleen said: "I had no control over it and that was hard. I knew what I was saying was right, but the fact that someone else took me to court and I had to prove it and say it was what it was was tough. It was a long period of time and I couldn’t get away from it.".
She went on to say she'd wake up every day and tell herself to "just get on with your day", but with all the paperwork and calls to her legal team - who eventually won her the case - made it hard to escape. "I felt like I wasn’t myself, I was snappy, and every Friday the lawyers rang me – the other team try and ruin your weekend by calling at the last point on Friday," she shared.
