Marc Cherry, the creator of Desperate Housewives, has revealed how he really feels about The Real Housewives franchises after they were inspired by his own series. Cherry's series, which premiered in 2004, was a fictional show that depicted a group of housewives living in suburbia and their everyday lives, the first episode beginning with a mysterious suicide of their close friend.

However, just two years later, in 2006, Bravo created a 'real life' version of Desperate Housewives, called The Real Housewives, beginning the first franchise in Orange County, California. While Desperate Housewives ended in 2012 after eight seasons, the Bravo reality series has taken on extreme popularity, expanding to over five cities in America.

Now, in a new interview with People, Cherry has lifted the lid on his true thoughts about the reality show. 'They didn't crib my name, to be fair to them,' Cherry said of The Real Housewives. 'They just used the word,' he continued. 'Our show came out, and they capitalized on that. And you know what? That's the capitalistic system.'.
