Jo Jordan, star of Dublin Wives, has tragically passed away at the age of 51. The reality TV personality, who hailed from Ballymun, passed away suddenly and was found by a family friend at her home in Ratoath, County Meath, on Friday 7th February. Described as being "kind" and "generous," Jo was known for her role in the TV3 series Dublin Wives, which followed the lives of five women in Dublin, including Danielle Meagher, Lisa Murphy, Roz Flanagan, and Virginia Macari-Smurfit.
After her time on the show, Jo devoted herself to charitable causes and successfully ran a business with her ex-husband James. In 2016, she also survived a heart attack. Following news of her passing, tributes have poured in from her former cast mates. Roz Flanagan spoke of her shock and deep sadness, while Alan McGarry, who worked with Jo, recalled her kindness and generosity. He wrote: "Despite everything you had going on, you did your best to be there. That’s just who you were — kind, generous, and always showing up for others.".
Photographer Jerry McCarthy shared his sadness, remembering Jo’s warmth. He wrote: "Life can be so cruel and nonsensical at times, taking away someone so young, full of life, and loved by those close to her. I hope she truly rests in peace.". Dublin Live’s Robbie Kane also paid tribute, sharing his personal connection with Jo. "She was warm, funny, engaging, and always had time for people," he recalled. "She wore her heart on her sleeve and shot from the hip. Like many, she had her own personal battles, but being from Ballymun, she fought back.".
In the notice announcing her death, Jo was described as the "cherished mother of Gavin and Joshua, devoted grandmother of Mason and Noah, and dear sister of Paul, Sonya, Michelle, Gloria, and the late Linda.". Jo's death comes just a year after the passing of her close friend and fellow Dublin Wives star Lisa Murphy, who died at 51 after a battle with cancer. Jo is survived by her loving family, including her ex-husband James, daughter-in-law Bridget (BB), and many other relatives and friends. Her funeral arrangements include removal to the Church of the Holy Trinity in Ratoath on Friday, February 14th, at 11am, followed by a service at Mulhuddart Cemetery.
