This article contains spoilers for tonight’s EastEnders, which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. An EastEnders icon left Albert Square in recent scenes as a story took an unexpected twist. Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has spent the last few weeks desperately trying to work out who was behind her attack on Christmas Day.

Last week, she was stunned to learn that it was ex-mother-in-law Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) who had swung the shovel that almost killed her. In her bid for revenge, Cindy shot Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), before pushing him in front of Reiss Colwell’s car, causing him to swerve and crash into the Queen Vic.
The accident led to an enormous tragedy as the Vic blew up, ultimately killing Martin Fowler and Reiss, as well as injuring Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean). To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video.
Up Next. In tonight’s episode, while the rest of Walford continued to try and heal from the devastating loss of Martin, Cindy’s attentions were focused elsewhere: On herself. In a move that was completely in character for her, Cindy had little remorse for the actions that had led to so much destruction, and was instead intent on getting back the money Ian had taken from her.
Eventually, they came to an agreement, before Cindy called both the Knights and Beales to Beale’s Eels to announce that she knew who was responsible for her attack. As she explained that the culprit was going to get away with it, as she was going to stay with old friend Gita for a while, the rest of the family grew impatient, having little time to indulge Cindy’s dramatics.
The only person who seemed bothered by her departure was lover Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), who couldn’t understand why she was letting her attacker get away with it. However, in true Cindy style, she assured him that they weren’t going to get away with it, she just wanted them to think they were, for now at least….
