EastEnders fans are predicting a return for one character in the near future, after a cryptic Grant Mitchell scene in tonight's episode. It was a blast from the past in Albert Square as Sharon and Grant reignited their romance. Before that, Sharon was heart revealing the news to Grant that Mark Fowler Jr knew Grant was his father. However, he'd decided not to reach out.
As the phone rang, Sharon left the room hoping it was Martin's sister, Michelle. As she left, her phonebook was left open, as Grant took a look at Mark Jr's phone number. Now, fans are convinced a return is on the cards for the character. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, alongside a picture of actor Ned Porteous, who now plays Joe Tate in Emmerdale, one fan penned: "He looooms (but probably recast lmao). #EastEnders." Another suggested: "They should recast him with the guy that played Grant on the flashback ep." "Hopefully he’d come whilst Grant is still there," penned another.
Ned was cast as the son of Michelle Fowler and Grant Mitchell in 2016. He's also the nephew of Martin Fowler - and with his daughter Bex's return to the soap confirmed - will his nephew be in attendance at the funeral? Fans hope so. It's also been confirmed Mark's half sister Vicki Fowler will be making a return to the Square later this year.
Mark Jr flew from Florida to London to meet his real dad, although his stint in the show was only short as he headed back to the States. At the time, Grant decided not to tell his son the truth. However, as he was about to leave, Mark told Sharon he had worked out Grant was his father - as she urged him not to get involved.
Speaking about Mark not getting in touch with Grant on tonight's episode, Sharon said: "I'm sorry Grant. He lives in Florida. And you've made a life in Portugal with Courtney. Haven't you?" The pair then get into a deep relationship about the past and one thing leads to another...
With Grant flirting with her best friend Linda Carter last night, fans on X formerly known as Twitter are calling for a 'second Sharongate.'. "Grant flirting with our Linda & now today with Sharon?? Are we gonna have a Sharon gate but with grant?? #Eastenders," wrote one, while another exclaimed: "#EastEnders Not Sharon & Grant AGAIN!!!!".
