There could be a major twist on the way on Emmerdale, with Mary Goskirk's secret possibly rumbled. Fans are convinced they can explain Mary's odd behaviour in recent scenes on the ITV soap, following the death of her pal Suzy Merton. Suzy tragically died in a limo crash earlier this month, with Leyla Harding and Amy Wyatt also killed.
Fans know that Mary had a thing for Suzy who was with Vanessa Woodfield, and she was shown looking jealous at the pair seemingly being happy just before Suzy died. Now new spoilers have teased a discovery, with a flashback to the day of the limo crash possibly involving Mary.
Spoilers have teased Mary is feeling very guilty, especially when she's around Vanessa who she is trying to support. We are set to find out what she is hiding from everyone very soon, but some viewers think they already know what the deal is. In the episodes since Suzy's passing we've seen Mary upset and talking of her close relationship with Suzy. She's made a point of being able to say goodbye to her too, including at the vigil where she was asked about her bond with the tragic character.
Viewers also noticed her harbouring a photo of the character and being upset, while also seeming awkward around Vanessa. With Vanessa asking Mary to attend the funeral with her for support Mary looked a bit shifty. Fans now think they have rumbled a huge secret that Mary is hiding from everyone, and perhaps Suzy was too. While some fans questioned if it was simply Mary hiding her true feelings for her friends, other fans think the feelings were acted on.
A new theory is that Suzy and Mary may have been having an affair before she died, and that this is why Mary feels so much guilt towards Vanessa. It could also explain her grief for Suzy. One fan posted on social media: "Mary & Susie had a thing??????? Mary is behaving super shifty." Another viewer agreed: "What's going on with Mary - was she having an affair with Suzy? She seems troubled.".
A third fan posted: "Think Suzy and Mary was having an affair," as another fan suggested: "She was in love with her from afar." A further theory read: "Go on Mary you go to funeral too, it will give you a chance to get closure on your secret relationship you had with Suzie and kept from Vanessa.".
