Whether you’re hibernating from the winter chill, you’re working from home, having a duvet day because – despite your best efforts – you’ve been hit by the dreaded lurgy, or your period has hit and the cramps are…cramping, a hot water bottle is a necessity.

Hot water bottles are a staple, and I own a variety because I simply can’t be without them.  What I don’t own is a rechargeable hot water bottle – yes, you read that right. And yes, they exist. Dunelm has launched an innovative solution, and modern twist on the classic winter warmer – the Rechargeable Hot Water Bottle.

Stay warm for up to five hours with Dunelm’s Rechargeable Hot Water Bottle after a 15-minute charge. The plush outer houses a sealed water pouch that has been pre-filled so you never need to empty its contents and refill it. This fuss-free design is leakproof, and features a built-in overheat protection for your safety. It also features an external pouch to tuck your hands in. Adjust the heat using the automatic temperature control, which ranges from 60 to 70 degrees. Measures 19cm x 26cm x 5.5cm, and comes in two colours, pink and purple.

The Rechargeable Hot Water Bottle means you no longer have to boil a kettle, and gingerly fill up the contents of your hot water bottle, or do numerous tests to ensure it won’t leak.  Dunelm’s new fuss-free design rules out all of those steps, and simply requires a 15 minute charge to keep you warm for five hours, which is more than we can say for our traditional hot water bottle.

Crafted with user comfort in mind, the rechargeable hot water bottle measures 19cm in width, 26cm in length, and 5.5cm in depth, which is perfect to slip into your bed before you go to sleep, or hug around your stomach. The most genius part of this heat source is it features a pre-filled, and sealed, water pouch inside, which heats up thanks to its efficient heating mechanism.  To charge it up, all you have to do is connect to the charging adaptor for a mere few minutes.

Safety is paramount with this device. It comes equipped with automatic temperature control to maintain the heat between 60-70°C, which is said to be the optimal range for comfort and safety. Additionally, the built-in overheat protection ensures that the device doesn’t exceed safe temperature limits, giving users peace of mind during use.

Plus, the water bottle is covered in a fluffy exterior, which is soft to the touch, and provides another layer of protection from having direct heat against the skin. It is also fitted with a secret pouch to slip your hands in. Another huge bonus is it is super easy to clean and maintain. The polyester exterior can be hand washed, or wiped with a damp cloth. But, the sealed water system means there’s no need to empty or refill the bottle, which saves us a job of cleaning and drying it, and avoids that stale smell when a traditional water bottle has been sitting with some droplets in there for a while (or over the summer months).

Not only is Dunelm’s device affordable and practical, but it is portable so you can lounge about anywhere in the home, even take it in the car for your next road trip.  Plus, you can reuse winter after winter. While it is a new product for Dunelm, it has already garnered an average rating of 4.7 out of five stars, so it’s not just a hit with us.

One happy shopper shared: ‘Very quick to heat up, so easy to use. Lovely soft fabric, we’ve even used them in the car.’. A separate shopper gushed: ‘Stays hot for ages and charges really quickly, which is great – I was always worried about fillable bottles leaking or splitting.’.

While another added: ‘Love this! Warmed up in no time! Nice to snuggle with when feeling the chill.’. Follow Metro across our social channels, on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
