A transgender high school basketball player has sparked fury this week after nearly outscoring an entire opposing girls' team in California. Henry Hanlon, who is a biological male, was on hand with a whopping 29 points in San Francisco Waldorf's 59-33 women's basketball win over Jewish Community High School on Tuesday night.

Footage of the senior towering above both opponents and teammates while dominating the court has gone viral on social media, with fans calling for high-school officials to ban them from female sports. One user wrote on X: 'Waldorf's entire playbook on a sticky note: Just give the ball to Henry.'.

'He is a foot taller than the tallest player. Totally fair,' said another sarcastically. A third put: 'the other team should have stayed on the bench in protest and every team that plays them should do the same. Pretty soon the team with the guy will realize cheating to win is wrong.'.

A transgender high school basketball player nearly outscored an entire girls' team this week. Sad for the girls. While one simply wrote: 'Sad for the girls.'. Hanlon, a three-sport athlete who plays volleyball and soccer as well as basketball, identifies as a girl despite being male.

They are currently Waldorf's leading scorer in basketball by almost 100 points more than the next closest teammate in the list despite not featuring in one of their eight games. The basketball star averages 21.4 points per game, which is up on last season's average of 17 points per game.
