Celebrity chef Gino D'Acampo once made Rob Beckett's wife "blush" after asking an awkward question about him. Gino, 48, was interviewed by Rob, 39, and fellow comedian Josh Widdicombe, 41, for an episode of their Parenting Hell podcast that was released in October last year. The former This Morning star was also introduced to their wives, Louise 'Lou' Beckett and Rose Widdicombe, on the video call. After briefly speaking to Josh's wife Rose at the start of the podcast, which focuses on parenting, Gino was later introduced to Rob's wife Lou during the recording. She ended up walking away after he asked her a question. At one point in the episode, Rob said: "My wife's walking through. Do you want to say 'hello' to Gino, Lou? Rose has as well. Louise is here. Do you wanna say hello quickly?".
Gino appeared to say at the time: "Oh yes, I do." Rob continued: "I'll pass the headphones over." Lou was then heard saying: "Hiya, sorry. Hello." Gino commented: "Ciao bella." Lou, who appeared to be laughing, replied: "Hi. Nice to meet you." Gino asked: "How are you, bella?" Lou responded by telling him: "I'm good, thank you.". Gino went on to ask: "Good. How is Rob treating you? Is he good?" Lou said: "He's a very nice man, aren't you?" Gino subsequently asked Rob's wife: "Well tell me something - out of ten, as a husband, go on ..." He added: "I'll make it easier for you ..." Lou was heard suggesting that he was a "solid seven" and Rob appeared to question what she had been asked in the background. Amid her comment though, Gino had already begun to say again: "I'll make it easier for you." He then continued: "Out of ten in the bedroom.".
Some laughter was heard on the podcast, seemingly from co-host Josh, after his remark, but Lou didn't provide a score and instead excused herself, saying: "I'm gonna take the dogs for a walk." She appeared to laugh slightly herself and then seemed to say as she headed off: "Nice to see everyone." Returning to the microphone, Rob then said: "You've made Lou blush as well now. What was ... I couldn't hear what was going on.".
Gino told him: "I asked out of ten ... one out of ten in the bedroom. She walked away." Rob said: "She said a solid seven but I know I'm an eight point five." Gino prompted laughter by teasing: "As an Englishman, take a seven. Take a seven. Remember you are an Englishman. Take a seven.". Rob then asked him: "What about you, Gino? What would you put yourself ... how would you rate yourself? How would [your wife] Jessica rate you, do you reckon?" Gino teased in his reply: "We don't do ratings. We just go for the round of applause at the end. I bow, I get my round of applause and I'm out.".
Gino discussed topics on the podcast including his family and cooking. At the end of the episode, Rob told him: "This has been an absolute pleasure. I've loved it." Whilst Josh commented: "It's been a great episode. Thank you, Gino.". The episode has attracted attention this week following Gino having made headlines over other projects in his career. He's facing accusations of "distressing" and "sexually inappropriate" behaviour following an ITV News investigation. "Dozens" of people are said to have detailed experiences described variously as "unacceptable," "distressing" and "horrendous" while working with him over a period spanning more than 12 years.
Gino has firmly denied the allegations. As previously reported, responding to the claims in their entirety, in a statement to ITV News, Gino said: "I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago. "I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me. Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, I have been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.
"I am a father, husband and have worked with well over 1,500 people on around 80 productions in my career, which I have been so proud of. I take such matters extremely seriously and the suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.". Like this story?
