BILLYTHEREALBIGRED (3.45 Newbury, nap). He can strike Gold for training team Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero. The rising stars have a big chance of landing the Greatwood Gold Cup with this improving five-year-old. This is just his fourth spin over fences and he kicked off with two easy wins at Bangor and Exeter. He revelled in the testing ground at both those tracks before taking up form up a notch when second behind the useful Jagwar at Cheltenham last time out. He has been enjoying himself out in front and a 3lb rise in the weights looks more than fair for that excellent effort. There’s definitely more to come and his excellent jumping will be a real asset as he gallops along on the front end.
WORLD OF FORTUNES (2.05 Doncaster, nb). She has been in fine form across the Irish Sea where she won easily in this Listed class earlier this season. She wasn’t disgraced in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown last time and is right at home over this distance. She looks hard to beat under Brian Hughes.
WHITE RHINO (3.15 Doncaster, treble). He earned his place in the Grade 1 Kauto Star last time with impressive wins at Ayr and Haydock. He unseated early at Kempton but can bounce back in the Grimthorpe over an ideal trip. Templegate's TV verdicts. DONCASTER.
WORLD OF FORTUNES is proven at this Listed level from a win at Limerick earlier this season. She was then upped in class and wasn’t disgraced in sixth at the Dublin Racing Festival last time. She has winning form over this distance and going back up in trip looks a wise move. Decent ground suits and she looks hard to beat.
Dameofthecotswolds has lost her way a little and didn’t take to quirky Windsor before just a fair run at Warwick last time. Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies is in better form now and she looked to be progressing nicely earlier this season. Three miles suits and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her go close.
If you can forgive Star Walking a poor run at Fakenham last time she looked a decent prospect when scoring at Wincanton in December. She will clearly have to improve but this is just her fourth run over hurdles. Bobby With An I dug deep to win a minor contest at Wincanton on debut and should take a big step forward.
This is a much hotter race so she will need a lot more. Miss Cynthia ran in Group 1 contests on the level and landed her first hurdles success at Market Rasen 11 days ago. This is stronger company but she’s going the right way. CALICO won this race two years ago and is effectively just 1lb higher in the handicap thanks to his rider’s claim.
His form has been solid this season and he clocked an impressive time when scoring at Cheltenham in October. He went too quick up front when fourth here last time and did well to keep going off such a strong pace. Decent ground suits and he looks a fair price.
Petit Tonnerre was helped by coming late to beat the tip last time and he’ll be competitive again despite a 5lb rise. Tommy’s Oscar has had a little break since a solid third at Kelso before Christmas. He’s got plenty of weight but will enjoy these conditions and has an each-way shout.
Homme Public won this 12 months ago and is off the same mark today. He’s been hurdling so this has been his target for a while. He swaps cheekpieces for blinkers and is another on the shortlist. Rare Edition has had a wind op since his distant fourth in an Ascot Grade 2 last time and should be more competitive back at handicap level over his favourite distance.
WHITE RHINO unseated early in the Grade 1 Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day but the fact he was in that race at all says plenty. He won his first two chases without breaking sweat and this longer trip should be ideal. Hymac is a proven stayer who ran another good race at Newbury last time out.
Cheekpieces go on here and he’ll be competitive despite his rising mark. Weveallbeencaught went from the front to win by almost 10 lengths here latest. He’s up 8lb for that and those tactics will be a bit tougher to pull off in this bigger field. Saying that he should run another decent race.
Some Scope took a slight step backwards when pulled up at Cheltenham last time after an impressive win at Wetherby. A repeat of that Yorkshire win brings him into the picture. The Kniphand won on his last visit here so is another with place prospects from a fair weight.
