Queen Elizabeth was just 13 years old when she and her sister Princess Margaret were evacuated to Windsor Castle when WWII broke out in 1939. Three years later, she carried out her first official duty, inspecting troops during a parade at Windsor Castle and it wasn't long before she joined the women's arm of the British Army at 18 and became the first female member of the royal family to serve in the armed forces.

The late monarch dedicated her entire life, whether that was through her role as Princess or Queen, to the country and was not afraid to get her hands dirty when times were tough in Britain. And there is one young royal whose personality echoes some of the core values that Elizabeth stood for; her beloved granddaughter, Lady Louise Windsor.

Photos recently emerged of the 21-year-old student, who is currently studying English at St Andrews University in Scotland, at Tayforth University Officers' Training Corps (TUOTC). In photos shared on social media, she looked to be in high spirits as she donned military gear and covered her face in camo paint while taking part in training. She grinned in photos as she held a helmet which appeared to say 'Windsor' on it, as reported by the Sun.

If the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh goes down the military path, she will be the first female royal since her late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, to do so, as Princess Anne, did not serve in the military. And royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, believes that Lady Louise Windsor could have what it takes to keep Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's legacy alive, as she also took up her grandfather's hobby of carriage driving before he died.
