Shopping for denim can be one of the biggest struggles, especially when you have a curvier figure. If you usually end up with jeans that gape at the waistband or are too snug on your hips and thighs, then welcome to the club. But don’t worry, because in my pursuit of finding jeans that are comfortable, on trend and actually fit curves properly I’ve managed to track down the perfect pair – and they’re available in sizes 10 to 32. The Mid Wash Barrel Leg Jean from SimplyBe are £46 and have the exact shape needed to make sure they’re fitted on the waist whilst still being roomy enough for wider hips, thighs and bums.

Barrel jeans were initially a style that I’d shied away from because I thought they might add some extra bulk to my shape, which is already more bottom heavy. The curved wide shape of the legs might have scared me, but as soon as I tried the Mid Wash Barrel Leg Jean I knew I’d found my new favourite shape of jeans.
Apart from being a really soft, relaxed style of denim which makes them super comfortable, the jeans have a great shape around the hips and waist that leaves plenty of room for curves. However my absolute favourite part is the waistband, which has a subtle elasticated panel at the back. This not only means it snatches in around your waist for a fitted look, but still moves and stretches with you. I’ve worn them whilst sitting at my desk all day, and they’re super bloat-friendly too, which means even when your usual jeans would feel tight, these will be extra comfy and stretchy to wear.
The Mid Wash Barrel Leg Jeans were also just the right amount of high waisted, which can be worn with tops tucked in or with cropped length tops whilst still giving plenty of coverage on my stomach. The regular length was just right on me, at 5ft 4”, and I took my usual size which fitted perfectly – I could have almost sized down and they’d still be comfy. You can also pick up the barrel shaped jeans in Leopard print for £52 and Washed Black which are now £40.50 down from £46. I also tried both pairs, and whilst the washed black colourway was another perfect fit, the leopard print pair were snugger with less stretch, so you may want to size up if you’re between sizes.
