TWO feminist sisters, desperate to get onto the property ladder, have shared their attempt to renovate an old, rundown flat - despite having absolutely no previous DIY experience. Sisters Heather, 25, and Anya, 20, live at home with their mum in Bournemouth, Dorset. The siblings spent £23,547 buying the doer-upper at auction, splitting the cost between them evenly. They'd previously worked in hospitality, and had never had any experience in the construction industry.

Despite this, they're keen to complete as many renovation jobs themselves as possible. They hope to make thousands out of their mega transformation, as they plan to complete the job in just six months. By then, they're aiming to have given the flat some major TLC and breathed new life into the old, dated space. To keep the project afloat, Heather says she now works "about three jobs" - juggling her work with renovating the house in her spare time.

While younger sister Anya is focusing on her chiropractic studies "full-time" and helping out as much as possible. The girls have taken on the "massive project" in a bid to get onto the property ladder, and say they are doing "everything we can" to make it work. The sisters spent £23,547 in total purchasing the flat at auction, here's the price breakdown:. Auction fees - £6,600. Surveyor - £300. Deposit - £14,000.

Solicitor - £2,647. Their admirable challenge has gained loads of positive attention online, and they've now got 12.5k followers on TikTok. And the girls are keen to inspire other women to get started on their own DIY projects, noticing a gender divide in the industry. They've also battled their fair share of trolls, with some online haters claiming they can only attempt their project thanks to their parents money - a claim they vehemently deny.

They've mostly received positive attention though, with fans gushing over their message of female empowerment in the comments. "Me and my sister are property surveyors, we always say there’s such a lack of women in the building trade! Looking forward to watching your reno," said one user. "Love following you girls!" said another fan. "Woohoo, you go girls," said somebody else. "I love this so much," another wrote.
