IT'S easy to think giving your bathroom a makeover will be costly and time-consuming - but a few small changes can go a long way. Successful bathroom design is often about the extra details. By addressing what can seem like minor matters, it’s possible to transition a bathroom from lacking to luxe.

George Manders, Senior Consultant at homewares brand Haddon, has revealed six simple tips that can lift the look and feel of your loo in less than a minute. And his 60-second upgrades won't break the bank either. George says: "Branded plastic bottles will always lower the tone of a bathroom, even when designer brands are in use.

"Investing in an appealing ceramic soap dispenser will add a small touch of sophistication.". Simple but gorgeous options cost as little as £5 in Dunelm or Asda, making this a very affordable, but effective, switch. Interiors pro George also revealed that warmer lighting can soften the visual impact of a bathroom which "makes the space more inviting".

He adds: "This is particularly useful where a white suite and tiling is present, and there are only limited lighting sources.". Greenery always works well in a bathroom. George says: "It brings life and colour, and many plants – snake plant, Boston fern, peace lily, and tillandsia (air plants) also naturally absorb water from the air, helping to regulate humidity and reducing the likelihood of mould forming.".
