THE Post Office plays a vital role during the festive period, as it helps transport gifts and presents across the country. However, the delivery service will be adjusting its hours over Christmas and the New Year period. The Post Office's stores will close early at 4pm on Christmas Eve and will remain closed on December 25 and December 26.

After Boxing Day, the delivery service's shops will reopen as normal. However, they will close again on New Year's Day to give their workers some more time with their families. Check the Post Office's website to see when your local store will open. Alternatively, ask in-store for your branch's opening times.

Delivery services will also be affected over the festive period. There will be no deliveries on Christmas Day, so you will need to send your Christmas gifts before this date. The Post Office has announced that first class Royal Mail deliveries will only arrive before December 25 if they are posted before December 20.
They added that Royal Mail Special Delivery orders can be posted as late as December 23. Post Office also confirmed that Evri orders need to be sent before December 20. Several other shops and services have announced that they will be adjusting their hours for Christmas.
Several supermarkets including Sainsbury's, Tesco and Lidl will close their doors on Christmas Day. Others, including Aldi, will also be shutting their doors on New Year's Day. Newspapers, such as The Sun, will publish on December 25 and January 1, 2025, to keep you informed over the festive period.
