During a live broadcast of This Morning, presenter Dermot O'Leary was left baffled when his colleague vanished from the set. At the start of Friday's (February 21) episode, Dermot and Alison Hammond were previewing the day's lineup for viewers. They began hyping up the cooking segment featuring Rustie Lee, but as the camera switched to the kitchen, it revealed an empty scene. "Also on the show today, Rustie is back in the kitchen with a fruity muffin. We can't wait for this," Alison said enthusiastically.
Confusion ensued when Dermot noticed Rustie's absence, questioning, "Where has she gone? " despite her having been by the oven just seconds earlier. Alison clarified that Rustie had stepped away to dispose of some sticks they had used for dancing at the top of the show.
Dermot humorously remarked, "Why did we give her the sticks? We've got to keep the puppy in the basket with Rustie. No reason for her to leave at all," while Alison continued to describe the mouth-watering muffins Rustie would be preparing. "But listen, let me tell you about her muffins, they're gorgeous. They're fruity muffins, they're absolutely delicious. If we know Rustie, we know that she is going to put every single ingredient possible into these muffins, but they're going to be beautiful. She is getting rid of the sticks, but these are the muffins and they are absolutely delicious," Alison assured.
Still perplexed, Dermot added, "Genuinely no reason for her to leave the studio, she was there... She's here to do the muffins. I'm now fascinated where Rustie is... Get back on the television.", reports Wales Online. The show's audience didn't hold back on X (the new Twitter) to express their annoyance, with one viewer exclaiming: "SHAMBLES! ! " Another chimed in with a less sympathetic take: "She's probably just having a s***.".
In other segments of today's programme, Dermot and Alison had a chat with a bloke who's shelled out cash to have his family cryogenically preserved post-mortem, hoping for a future reunion. Meanwhile, Phil Vickery and David Domoney were broadcasting from This Morning's very own allotment, dishing out advice on cultivating spring veggies.
And as Britain's Got Talent gears up for its comeback this Saturday (February 22), former champs Paul Potts, George Sampson, and Sydnie Christmas are all set to reminisce about their experiences on the talent spectacle in the ITV studio. This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
