Hollyoaks star James Sutton, 41, has reportedly split from girlfriend Tamara Jane a year after going public with their relationship. The John Paul McQueen star first announced his relationship on Instagram last February, with a snap of the couple on a date night.

‘Mine,’ he wrote in the caption, and received plenty of support from his Hollyoaks co-stars. However, he has since removed pictures of Tamara from his social media accounts and no longer follows her, suggesting that they have broken up. Metro has reached out to James’ representatives for comment.

James’ relationship with Tamara came after a split from wife of five years Rachael, with whom he parted on good terms. ‘Rachael and I had a wonderful relationship and marriage,’ James previously told The Mirror. ‘It was very sad but amicable, and we remain friends.’.
The publication reported that the couple had ‘hit a rocky patch during lockdown’, and decided to quietly split. James first appeared as John Paul in 2006, and has been in the show on and off ever since. The character is currently in a relationship with serial killer Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield), blissfully unaware that he’s bumped off Dilly Harcourt (Emma Johnsey-Smith) and is ready to strike again.
The actor recently signed a new contract to appear on the show for at least another year, much to the delight of fans. Away from the Channel 4 soap, James hosts his own podcast, Male Mind Matters, which focuses on men’s mental health and wellbeing. He previously told Metro that he hoped the podcast would encourage other men to speak about difficult topics, rather than suffering in silence.
‘If you don’t have a safe space to give you the platform to have those conversations, men can go down a dark path with mental health struggles and the male suicide rate is still through the roof,’ he told us. ‘I really want to make this podcast a tool in people’s arsenal that they can listen to and think, “If James and these people are speaking about these subjects, and the things that affect me and all of these men, then it’s ok for me to talk about these things with a friend, or a therapist, or a doctor or family member.” Just to get this conversation out of your own head. That’s ultimately the ambition.’.
