Jay-Z has spoken of his family's "trauma" as he claimed his rape lawsuit had been dropped. A woman who had alleged that she was sexually assaulted when she was 13 by Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs in 2000 has voluntarily withdrawn her lawsuit, it was claimed. In a statement shared on Roc Nation, he said: "Today is a victory. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.".

He added: "The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.". The rapper's attorney Alewx Spiro said today: "The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice. By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can – he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.".

Jane Doe's attorneys, Tony Buzbee and Antigone Curis, had said that the plaintiff "hereby gives notice that the above-captioned Action is voluntarily dismissed, with prejudice." With prejudice means that the case cannot be re-filed again in the future. Jay-Z - whose real name is Shawn Carter - is married to Beyoncé. The pair share three children - Blue Ivy, who was born in January 2012, and twins Rumi and Sir Carter, who were born in June 2017.
