Cruz Beckham has entered into a debate over his “nepo baby” status this weekend, following backlash against his latest musical project. The third eldest child of Victoria and David Beckham recently released a teaser for his latest song ‘For Ya Love’, which he posted to Instagram on Christmas Day.
The musical teaser was met with criticism from commenters accusing Beckham of using nepotism to advance his fledgling music career. “Not bad,” wrote one commenter. “Bet he had mega money and training.” The 19-year-old immediately shot down the commenter, replying: “Not at all. Just a guitar.”.
The criticism continued, so Cruz hit back with the line: “Jesus was also a nepo baby.” Less than 12 hours later, early in the morning of December 28, he deleted his comment. Cruz Beckham has been soft-launching his music career for a while now, having performed at a “spontaneous” gig in a London pub last December.
Beckham also released a Christmas song way back in 2016, when he would have been 11 years old. At the time, Beckham’s Christmas tune brought comparisons with Justin Bieber, though his tween music career never quite materialised. Beckham is already signed to a prominent management firm, C3, who used to work with The Strokes. Beckham switched to C3 earlier this year after leaving TaP, the music management agency who work with the likes of Dua Lipa and Ellie Goulding.
