Manchester City still risk losing Kevin De Bruyne as no progress has been made on a contract renewal, the star has revealed. The Belgian's contract expires this summer and he is free to talk to foreign clubs about joining them on a pre-contract agreement.

City have tied down Pep Guardiola and Erling Haaland to new deals in recent weeks and are keen to secure the future of their midfield maestro who joined in 2015. They may have to compete with the alluring riches of Saudi Arabian clubs, who have previously signalled interest in tempting De Bruyne under the guise of an incredible salary hike.

Asked for a contract update, he told reporters: 'I've not spoken to them for the moment. 'I wanted to get better, I'm doing better, so I'm happy. We'll see, something will happen.'. Kevin De Bruyne has admitted that no progress has been made on renewing his contract.

The Belgian's contract expires this summer and he could leave after a decade at the club. Erling Haaland recently renewed his deal until 2034 and Guardiola hopes that could persuade De Bruyne to stay. Last week Haaland renewed his contract until 2034 with a whopping base salary of £500,000 per week.

Mail Sport revealed that, including weekly bonuses, the nine-and-a-half-year deal takes him closer to £1m per week than his current £865,000-a-week haul. De Bruyne added: 'I don't think wherever I go I'll get a 10-year contract anyway, so I don't need to stress!'.
