Leonardo DiCaprio among celebrities flocking to London for ‘life-changing’ secret experience

Leonardo DiCaprio is the latest in a long list of celebrities heading to London for a ‘fantastical’ and ‘life-changing’ event more secretive than Fight Club. You Me Bum Bum Train – yes, you read that correctly – has made waves since launching in London in 2004.

The secretive immersive theatre experience takes place in a closely guarded location in central London, the only thing more obscure being the actual contents of the show. Thanks to the elusive nature of the show and the legions of rave five-star reviews, the theatre show created by Kate Bond and Morgan Lloyd has quickly amassed a celebrity audience.

A source told Metro that Hollywood icon DiCaprio is one of the latest stars to attend a performance of the show, joining the likes of Katy Perry and Madonna, who have previously been part of the unique show. The Revenant star was said to be watching You Me Bum Bum Train alongside his mum Irmelin Indenbirken and girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti.

The insider said other stars in attendance included Orlando Bloom, Naomi Campbell, FKA Twigs, and Declan Rice. At this point, it’s almost easier to name celebrities who haven’t climbed aboard the You Me Bum Bum Train, with the likes of David Tennant, Stephen Fry, and Benedict Cumberbatch among other huge names who have attended.

Even the Royal Family have been among crowds, with Prince Harry and Princess Eugenie nabbing a spot at the event in the past. You Me Bum Bum Train returned to the UK last year after an eight-year absence. And it was greatly received by fans hoping to nab a ticket, with performances selling out swiftly.

The show really took off in 2009 when Bond and Lloyd were awarded an Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust accolade along with funding that allowed them to take You Me Bum Bum Train to new heights. In 2010 they produced a sell-out show in collaboration with the Barbican, winning awards and the hearts of many across London and beyond.

Quite literally, as it happens, attendees must sign non-disclosure agreements before entering the immersive theatre experience. Organisers of the show urge those wanting to see You Me Bum Bum Train not to do any research and to go in as blind as possible.

The Times echoed the sentiment in its review, with their writer saying it was the ‘on of the best artistic experience of their life.’. In an interview with The Guardian, co-creator Bond explained why the duo created the event. ‘We wanted to create an artform that was about other people,’ she said, ‘to give people rich experiences..’.

Lloyd added: ‘I’ve never known what I wanted to do in life, but this project gives a sense of meaning. It has a really profound effect.’. A long list of celebrities are said to have seen the show, including Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Neil Patrick Harris, and Sir Ian McKellen.

Other stars rumoured to have attended include Matt Smith, Keira Knightly, Andrew Lincoln, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Ben Whishaw. James Corden even went as far as volunteering to be in the production. Speaking to The Sun, a source said: ‘James had been to see the show eight years ago when it was in London before so when he saw it was back he wanted to take in the madness himself.

‘All actors in the play volunteer for free – regardless if you’re an A-lister or have done little more than attended drama class at school. ‘The whole thing is shrouded in secrecy and no one is meant to talk about what goes on but some of the biggest names in the world have taken part.
