One Direction star, Liam Payne, allegedly pressured his ex, Maya Henry, into getting an abortion, according to shocking new claims about the tragic singer. Maya, 25, who got engaged to Liam in 2020, has opened up about her relationship with the much-loved singer following his tragic death last year after the star fell from his hotel suite balcony in Argentina, aged 31. In her first interview since Liam died, Maya has spoken about the star's debilitating addiction to drugs as well as the "unsafe and harmful" experiences amid reports the X Factor star forced her to get an abortion.

In the jaw-dropping article, in which the model says the singer was "unrecognisbale" when he was "on drugs", a source claims Liam pressured Maya into terminating her pregnancy by presenting her with an ultimatum. An insider told Rolling Stone magazine - where Maya gave the interview -: "Liam sent Maya a long message saying it's either get an abortion and stay with him, or raise the kid alone and he will not acknowledge either of them. This was a surprise to Maya, because Liam wanted to have a family, and they were trying for a kid.".

Maya has previously spoken about having an abortion. In an interview with People in May last year, she discussed how in her novel, Looking Forward, the main character, Mallory, went through the emotional experience of getting a non-surgical abortion, which is "very similar" to "what I went through". She said: “What I went through in real life is very similar to what Mallory went through in the book. I definitely did have some complications, and I did have to go to the hospital alone,” she explained. “It was very lonely, having these men tell you: ‘Oh, it’s going to feel like a heavy period, it’s not going to be that painful, it’s going to be easy.’ But I’m like, you’ve never even gone through anything like [this], so how would you know to tell me?”.

Maya confessed that while she didn’t necessarily want to get an abortion at the time, it was the right decision for the sake of the relationship she was in. She concluded: “If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have done it. But then also, if I were to have made a different decision, then I would’ve lost the person that I loved.". * The Mirror has contacted Maya's reps for comment on this story.
