Lisandro Martinez has undergone surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament. Manchester United’s Argentine defender picked up the season-ending injury in the 2-0 defeat by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on February 2. At the time, the club said that assessment of the issue was ongoing ‘to determine the appropriate course of treatment’. Mail Sport’s Man United Confidential revealed earlier this week that United’s medical department had ultimately decided that an operation was the best course of action and that Martinez would go under the knife before the end of the week.

And it can now be disclosed that the 27-year-old central defender had surgery in London on Thursday. Club officials accompanied the player to the capital. The initial signs are that the surgery was successful. Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez has undergone surgery to repair his torn ACL.
