Marcus Rashford made his Aston Villa debut off the bench in their FA Cup fourth-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur. Rashford joined Villa on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season last week after being exiled by Red Devils Ruben Amorim. The forward was named among the substitutes for Sunday afternoon's clash in Villa's first game since his arrival. And, midway through the second half, Rashford was introduced by boss Unai Emery for his debut as he looks to revitalise his career in the West Midlands.

The 27-year-old replaced Donyell Malen, moments after Morgan Rogers had put the home side 2-0 up following good work from the Dutchman - which came after Jacob Ramsey gave the hosts the lead after less than a minute of the clash. Rashford had not played since United's 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League on December 12 having being ostracised by Amorim. Rashford replaced Donyell Malen midway through the second half when Villa were 2-0 up. Rashford is hoping to revitalise his career in the West Midlands after joining the club on loan. He was an unused substitute for United's 2-0 defeat by Newcastle on December 30 and was not selected in a matchday squad by Amorim after that game before he moved to Villa. Emery on Friday brushed off the difficulties Rashford has had with Amorim as the Villa boss insisted he was delighted with his new striker.

Emery said: ‘I am very happy with him. The conversations I’ve had were very normal, a player and coach speaking about football, and all I want from him is the best football. ‘As a person as well, he’s been introduced to the dressing room as one more player helping us. His potential is huge to exploit. I don’t want to know the reasons he is leaving Manchester United. ‘I am very happy keeping him here to try to help him recover his performances. His challenge with us exciting and mine is huge. The club worked well in the window.
