Matt Damon plays David Beckham’s twin brother in ‘hilarious’ Super Bowl commercial fans hail as ‘best of the night’

MATT Damon and David Beckham's "hilarious" Super Bowl advert even had Kansas City Chiefs' fans laughing, despite their team's defeat. The Hollywood megastar, 54, transformed into the soccer star's "twin", for a feature-length advert for Stella Artois - and fans couldn't get enough of it. The 60-second advert went down a storm with fans when it aired in full during the Super Bowl LIX's half-time show.

The advert kicks off with David, 49, joining his parents in a pub in England, where he is told he has a "long-lost brother in America" who is called "Other David". Next Becks is seen jetting to the US to find his twin, who is hilariously played by Hollywood star, Matt. After sharing a beer together and some wings, the movie star turns to David and cheekily says: "My brother is a famous soccer player? So how famous are you? Like, Matt Damon famous?".

"Maybe Ben Affleck famous?" Beckham responds. "That’s a shame,” Matt replies. The advert was actually directed by Ben Affleck, so this joke at the end floored fans, who loved the Super Bowel ad. One wrote: "Matt and David in the Super Bowl advert was just too funny guys! Work together more please!". While another said: "Ok, I think the David Beckham and Matt Damon Stella Artois commercial was the funniest.".

This one added: "The Stella Artois commercial with David Beckham and Matt Damon is the best commercial I’ve seen tonight.". This Chief's fan said: "Ok, so the Matt Damon and David Beckham commercial was the best part of the whole fiasco.". Matt previously revealed his joy at making the advert with Becks. Speaking before the Super Bowl Stella Artois advert aired, the actor said: "I’ve been partnering with Stella Artois for a decade now and get more excited with each year.

"I can’t wait to keep telling the story of ‘David and Dave’ all year and shedding light on those moments in life worth more, where meaningful connection means more than anything. "The Beckham brothers are here to stay, and Stella Artois will be there with us at every moment.". Super Bowl halftime advertising is big business. Ahead of the big game, brands fight it out for the prime slot and the chance to reach over 100 million viewers in real-time.

A slot can cost up to $8M with the majority of the audience tuning in for the entertainment factor. The Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. The tone was set early for the Chiefs after Taylor Swift was viciously booed by Eagles fans when she was first shown on the jumbotron. It was a sign of things to come during the game. On the field, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce produced some of the worst games of their careers and were left teary-eyed together after the loss.
