Elf On The Shelf is a fun way for parents to get their children in the spirit for Christmas with cheeky pranks for the naughty Elf, but one mum claims to have traumatised her child after a prank went wrong. A mum named Bryony Blue got creative with her festive elf in a bid to amuse her son. But things took an unfortunate turn, leaving the elf disembowelled.
Writing on Facebook, Bryony wrote: "Having watched Gremlins, I thought it would be funny to put our elf in the blender with a note saying "Help! The Gremlins trapped me!". However, it didn't go as planned as she'd woken up the next morning terrified screaming after her son had accidentally turned on blender and eviscerated their elf, called Larry.
She explained: "Needless to say he was utterly traumatised, shaking and crying. After attempting to comfort him I went briefly upstairs, panicked, then returned saying I'd just called the Elf Helpline and they said stuff like this happens all the time and not to worry because elves can regenerate.".
Bryony went on to say that she'd spent the next few hours driving around to different shops to try to find the same elf as Larry. She managed to find one that came in a set of two elves, which she embraced and decided to make her own Elf Regeneration Unit as well as a nurse uniform for the second elf.
The next day, she set everything up, showing a photo of the injured elf laying in the Regeneration Unit with the elf in the nurse uniform standing with a wooden toy syringe in her arms. She also put up a note from the nurse elf which read: "Dear Theo, I have been sent by the National Elf Service to help Larry. Please don't worry, elves are very resilient and we bounce back quickly. If it's okay with you I will stay to keep an eye on everything and get a lift with Father Christmas. Nessy xx.".
