The accident, which occurred shortly after 10:20???PM, has resulted in one fatality and left four people injured, including a nine-year-old child. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus driver???a woman who remains uninjured???was attempting to service the bus stop when she was forced to take evasive action. According to eyewitness accounts, another vehicle overtook her at speed, compelling her to swerve sharply. This maneuver caused the bus to veer into the bus stop where several passengers were waiting, with one individual reportedly thrown into a nearby garden by the impact. Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene. The Metropolitan Police, along with teams from the London Ambulance Service, attended the area, and a major incident investigation has been launched by the Metropolitan Police???s collision investigation unit. Ambulance crews treated patients on scene, and those with more serious injuries were transported to a major trauma centre for further care. Road closures and diversions are currently in effect in the area as investigators work to piece together the events leading up to the crash. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured any footage to come forward with information. Emergency services were called to the scene in Bessborough Road, in Harrow, north west London, at around 9.15pm yesterday after a 395 bus was involved in a crash with a car. The Metropolitan Police said a pedestrian, a woman aged in her 40s, died at the scene and two others were injured. They have been taken hospital where their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

It is thought that the pedestrians got off the bus when the car struck. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody. Neighbours have described running out of their houses to find the injured scattered across the street.

Dramatic images show the aftermath of the collision with the car hitting the bus and careering into a garden fence. Debris can be seen laying strewn across the road including possessions believed to have belonged to a schoolboy who was injured. A pensioner told Metro: ‘We were having dinner and heard a bang like an explosion.
‘We went out and there was utter mayhem and people laying on the ground. There was a distraught woman who had seen what had happened, she was hysterical. ‘The paramedics were there very fast and worked so hard on someone in a garden. They were giving chest compressions for ages. It was horrific, just carnage.’.

The owner of the house next to the bus stop said the area was an accident black spot. Paramedics used his garden to give medical aid to those injured in the crash. He said: ‘There are a lot of accidents, we have pleaded for cameras. This is such a tragedy. We are all devastated.’.
The man’s fence has been completely destroyed in the collision which left the front of the car wedged in his garden. He added: ‘The damage is very bad.’. Medical packs lay strewn across the ground at the crash scene. The car was towed away in the early hours of the morning to be examined by accident investigators.
Police were still on the scene today and workers have set up a temporary bus stop to replace the one destroyed. In a statement, the police said: ‘The driver of the car stopped at the scene and he was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in custody.
