People have been left in disbelief after a mum shared her baby's name online - which they think nods to a popular Italian dish. Anyone who has had a baby knows how exciting the baby-naming process can be. Choosing a name for your child is one of the most important decisions new parents will make. Some people know from a young age what names they want to use, while others spend a long time thinking about it. Some people love traditional names while want their child's name to be the only one of its kind heard in the playground.

One mum, Kayla, recently shared her daughter's name online - and people were convinced she was joking. It comes as the little one turned two years old recently, and the mum shared sweet snaps of when she was born on TikTok. She showed the little on in hospital, being wrapped in a blanket and wearing a cute hat. Kayla, from the US, revealed her daughter's name is Liz Anya - which sounds a lot like the famous sheet pasta dish, lasagne. The parent and book author, said: "Happy almost two years to my baby. Can't believe she's a toddler now. Liz Anya Maguire.".

"Is this real?," one individual questioned in the comments. "You did not," said another. "Omg stop, no way," said another. One other stunned individual added: "Liz Anya? Like the pasta?" "Your named your kid lasagna...," another stunned commenter said. One other wrote: "I'm so mad I didn't think of this! My husband is Italian! It would have been genius.". One other said: "I was like oh, that's an adorable name what's wrong with that and then I had to come back when I finally understood... lasagna." "Wait, why is that actually iconic," added another.

Another who likes the name, said: "For YEARS I have been telling my husband I want to have kids and name them Liz Anya and Toni (Rigatoni). I’m glad someone else gets it.". Another person named Liz commented: "Wow, I'm low key pissed Anya isn't my middle name." Another wrote: "I thought it was super pretty and then realised it's lasagna. I still think it's pretty though.". Experts at Nameberry have released their list of baby name trends for 2025 - sharing the monikers you might be hearing in the school playground in the years to come.

Among their list, they claim 'actual baby names ' will be making a return, leaving the 'elderly' names such as Edith, Dorothy, Arthur, and Charles behind. A statement reads: "If the past few years have emphasised 'you're naming an adult, not a baby', 2025 will embrace the inverse. Some of the trendiest baby names are clearly meant for babies.". Predictions for popular baby names include: Albie, Astro, Blossom, Cyan, Echo, Gio, Lilibet, Lottie, Lula, Nori, Rook, Scottie, Suede, Wednesday, Xavi, Aqua, Bash, Cub, Dolly, Georgie, Koda, Louie, Maven, Posey, Sandro, Sonny, Two, White, Zelie.
