The boisterous group had continued chanting when organisers of the event at the UBC Aquatics Centre asked for silence so competitors could hear the starting buzzer.

Despite being so far from his wife, who chose to head back to California early to be with their two children, Harry was spotted happily posing for selfies and joking with supporters of the South Korean and Danish teams. Meghan wrote in the caption: 'Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families.

She signed the post 'M' and added the hashtag #lovewins - a slogan usually used to celebrate LGBTQ+ couples. Harry will stay in Canada to watch the rest of the tournament for injured service personnel and veterans, which will end with Sunday's closing ceremony.

Following his wife's departure, the prince reportedly took a day off to relax and 'unwind' ahead of attending the remaining events solo. Plans were not given in advance for security reasons, and a source close to the couple said: 'This was always planned. Meghan is going home to be with her children. 'Meghan left the Games in Dusseldorf early after five days to go home. This is Prince Harry's event and she is there to support him, but this was planned.'.
