Good Morning Britain has been abruptly halted by presenter Richard Madeley to share an AI-generated video of Gaza that was posted by US president Donald Trump. GMB presenters Richard and Susanna Reid were forced to stop normal programming to deliver breaking news after Trump posted an AI-generated video on his Truth Social social media platform, showing what appears to be his vision of Gaza. The video features golden statues of the US president and a Trump Gaza statue.
"As the prime minister Keir Starmer heads to Washington to meet Donald Trump, the president has posted a frankly weird 'what's next' for Gaza," Richard said. "It's an AI video on his Truth social platform. Gird yourselves, this is what it is.". The video then features AI-generated versions of Trump with Benjamin Netanyahu by a hotel resort pool and Elon Musk walking on the beach while money falls from the sky. Meanwhile, a song plays in the background with the lyrics: "Donald's coming to set you free, bringing the light for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear: Trump Gaza's finally here.".
GMB's Richard and Susanna were left in shock as the camera cut back to their desk, with the pair asking contributors Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire what they thought. "Jaw-dropping," Andrew said, while Kevin added: "Trump shouldn't be in The White House, he should be in an asylum." Andrew quickly jumped in with: "Hang on, he's won an election, Kevin. He's won an election.".
Susanna voiced her incredulity, saying: "He's won an election and he's posting this. There is devastation and death in Gaza.". Kevin added: "47,000 people have been killed in that war, the vast majority of them women and children - they weren't Hamaz, they weren't fighters. In Israel, they must have had about 2,000 deaths in all now given the number of soldiers who died in Gaza. And he's doing that. He wants to evict two million people, forcibly evict two million people.".
Richard and Susanna then welcomed Defence Secretary John Healey onto the show to speak about the bizarre video and Keir Starmer's trip to the US. "How do you deal with a man like this? How do you deal with the leader of the Western world who's posting the kind of videos that a teenager would put together in their bedroom?" Richard asked.
John replied: "You recognise that this is a president who likes to change the frame of reference and sometimes that can bring steps forward and so when you look at Ukraine for instance, his pledge to end that war, his pledge to bring Putin to the negotiating table, his pledge to put pressure onto Putin to negotiate a durable peace which only the US is powerful enough to do, is welcome and we will work with that.
"So when Keir Starmer goes to Washington and meets with President Trump tomorrow, he will be discussing the plan that Britain is leading preparations for - a point in which he may get an end to the fighting, in which security guarantees may be required.".
