Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon has opened up on the moment he met co-star Ruth Jones and explained what initially brought them together. The pair were at school together in Wales and quickly formed a bond. They became friends when they were 14 years old and Rob admits people often ask if he was her teacher despite being one year older than her at 59. He confessed meeting Ruth was a massive moment in his life, with him agreeing to David saying he had met a kindred spirit. Speaking of their connection, he joked: "I always say Ruth is like the sister I never wanted.".
David and Matt chuckled at his response before the former Britain's Got Talent judge asked what bonded the pair. Rob responded: "At one level just liking theatre and performing and at another what bonds anybody to anybody? We just hit it off. You know, we're very similar. We overlap in our sense of humour and I just really adored her and she is one of my longest friends. He added that you "have to have that in there", when he said the pair would perform and rehearse together night after night in the performances.
Elsewhere, Rob confessed to a number of celebrities he is sometimes confused for by fans. He confessed he is often mistaken for Strictly's Anton Du Beke, 58. He also claimed to have been mistaken for comedian Ben Miller, 58, too. David admitted he could grasp the Anton comparison, but brutally said that he didn't see the Ben link due to the comedian - who is only one year younger than Rob - looking far more youthful. Rob jokingly turned away from David with a sarcastic look of disgust. He mocked: "Incredible. Do you know I was in a car for an hour and a quarter to get here. And that's what I get.".
Bringing it back to a serious conversation, Rob added: "When you talk about who I get mistaken for, and you can say what you want to this, I always say it's Anton Du Beke, it's Ben Miller, it's AP McCoy the jockey and on a good day, hear me out, on a good day Hugh Grant.". Rob then went on to confess that he sometimes turns on a television show with Anton on screen and thinks it is actually him for a moment.
