Sky and Virgin customers warned of five TV channel...

SKY and Virgin Media customers have been warned of five channel changes coming this week with the first kicking off today. Channels are routinely overhauled based around big events in the sport and showbiz calendar. Fortunately, there are no new closures to report since the shock announcement of Eurosport's demise. The channel will disappear from screens in the UK on February 28 after 35 years on-air.

In the latest shake-up, Sky Sports and Sky Cinema subscribers will notice some adjustments on the TV schedule from today onward, affecting both Sky and Virgin Media boxes. Firstly, a special Sky Cinema Bridge Jones channel ends and is replaced with Sky Cinema Comedy. This was a temporary change to celebrate the fourth instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, coming out on Valentine's Day. Renée Zellweger, 55, returns as the titular character dealing with life as a widow and single mum.

From today, the channel is back as Sky Cinema Comedy on number 308 for Sky customers and 408 for Virgin Media. Tomorrow (Tuesday) there are changes in store for Sky Sports customers. Sky Sports NFL will end and become Sky Sports Action once more. The channel was launched ahead of the big Super Bowl game between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Sky Sports Action will return to its usual spot at number 408 / 865 for Sky satellite, 408 for Sky Glass / Sky Stream and 507 / 517 for Virgin Media.

Elsewhere this week, there will be yet more changes to Sky Cinema channels. Sky Cinema Revenge will revert to the Sky Cinema Action brand on Friday, at channel number 307 / 851 on Sky satellite, 307 on Sky Glass / Sky Stream and 407 on Virgin Media. The same day, Sky Cinema Family will temporarily disappear and become Sky Cinema Harry Potter at Sky satellite channel number 306 / 850, as well as 306 for Sky Glass / Sky Stream and 406 on Virgin Media.

Then finally on Sunday, the temporary Sky Cinema Valentines channel filled with romantic movies will be gone for another year and swap to become Sky Cinema Awards Season, showing Oscar-nominated titles and previous winners.
