Last October, Ms Phillips made international headlines when she had sex with 101 men in one day, all on camera. Soon afterwards, Ms Blue, whose real name is Tia Billinger, claimed that she had surpassed her former friend’s record by having sex with 1,057 men in 12 hours. All the participants wore condoms, but as I explain below, contraception isn’t 100 per cent foolproof.

And now rumours are swirling that the two women are apparently pregnant. Ms Blue, who has a long-term partner, sparked feverish speculation when she took to Instagram today to share a photo of a plate of pickles covered in chocolate sauce and sprinkles, writing #cravings. Of course, any child could be her partner’s but there is a risk that it any baby could be the progeny of her OnlyFans stunt. Not to be outdone, hours later Ms Phillips, who is single, shared a photo of herself appearing to show a large bump, alongside two positive pregnancy tests.

Forgive me, but this does all seem like an awfully big coincidence. What are the chances that these publicity-hungry rivals have both fallen pregnant at exactly the same time – or indeed that either are expecting at all?. Social media users largely share my scepticism, with some people suggesting that the photograph of Ms Phillips’s bump was AI-generated, not least because other recent photos of her in lingerie and tight-fitting dresses show no sign of it. As one reply scoffed: ‘You were ultra skinny in the gym like 12 hours ago!’.

I very much hope that this is all just a sick joke, because the prospect of any child being brought into the world like this is too upsetting for words. For one thing, neither Ms Blue, 25, nor Ms Phillips, 24, could have any idea who the father is. Their children would be likely to grow up knowing, not only that their parent could be any one of thousands of men, but also that they were conceived in the most squalid and loveless of circumstances.

Imagine what that knowledge would do to a youngster’s self esteem. And imagine the bullying that they would inevitably face when the other kids at school found out the rotten truth. Thus far, Ms Blue and Ms Phillips have hosted their most extreme events in Airbnbs, and other rented venues, without inviting the men into their own homes. But we know from a documentary about Ms Phillips released in December, titled ‘I Slept With 100 Men In One Day,’ that she does most of her work from home.

Ms Phillips proudly showed off her collection to camera, and left the bedroom door open during one of her filming sessions leaving others in the flat under no illusion as to what was going on. Social services would surely want to keep a close eye on any baby born into such a home, and rightly so.

But at least these pregnancy rumours are a reminder that, even in the age of the Pill, sex can never really be consequence-free. Even though the porn industry likes to represent sex as just a meaningless leisure activity that can be bought and sold without any moral qualms, we all know that this isn’t really true. If – God forbid – Ms Phillips and Ms Blue really are pregnant, perhaps they and their fans will finally be forced to wake up to the fact that sex isn’t actually meaningless or free from consequences.

Unfortunately for all of us, they aren’t the only British OnlyFans stars who are attempting risky and extreme sex acts with hundreds of men for the sake of publicity. American friends tell me that the UK is developing a reputation for this kind of disgusting stunt, much like Thailand is known for transgender prostitution, and Germany for fetish porn. The age of MeToo was supposed to usher in a new respect for women’s bodies. We were done with the lads mag misogyny of the Noughties, but here we are again. Only, now it is women like Ms Blue and Ms Phillips who are plumbing new depths of degradation.
