Strictly Come Dancing winner Rose Ayling-Ellis has landed a huge role role in hit BBC series, Doctor Who. The EastEnders actress, who won Strictly with Giovanni Pernice in 2021, will be joining the hit show with 15th Doctor Ncuti Gatwa and Lenny James, Jonathan Groff and Anita Dobson. Speaking about Rose joining the programme, showrunner Russell T Davies said Rose 'takes it a whole new level'.
He said: "We always want guest actors on Doctor Who to have fun, but Rose takes it to a whole new level." Russell then spoke of her 'performance of terror', revealing: "She storms in with an astonishing performance of terror, anger and bravery in one of the most frightening episodes we’ve ever made.".
Rose discussed her excitement about working with Sex Education icon Ncuti and said: "Ncuti is a wonderful Doctor, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what we have created together.” She revealed she was a huge Doctor Who fan growing up so becoming part of the show had been "a dream come true".
“My inner child is ecstatic with excitement! Working with Russell and filming alongside the talented cast and crew has been an incredible experience," she added. The star is best known for her role as Frankie Lewis between 2020 and 2022. Following her exit, she also appeared in Ludwig as Freya Chordwell.
Earlier this year, it was revealed she will appear in Reunion, an upcoming BBC thriller. The series is an "emotional thriller of revenge and redemption" where the majority of the cast and crew are either Deaf or use British Sign Language (BSL). Reunion follows the story of Daniel Brennan (played by Matthew Gurney), a Deaf man who was recently released from prison and struggles to "fully integrate into the hearing world ".
