Taylor Swift's unpleasant welcome at Super Bowl LIX was "no real surprise," according to an expert. On Sunday night, the Anti-Hero singer faced a chorus of boos from a stadium packed with Philadelphia Eagles supporters when she appeared on the jumbotron in New Orleans, where she was rooting for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs' star Travis Kelce. Amidst the hostile reception, Taylor's baffled retort to the camera catching her off-guard in her plush VIP spot next to Ice Spice and Este Haim was simply: "What's going on?" Despite looking somewhat uneasy among the stands, Taylor remained unfazed by the jeers.
PR and personal branding expert Mayah Riaz said that Taylor handled the uncomfortable situation perfectly. Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, PR to the stars Mayah explained: “The booing was from the predominantly Philadelphia Eagles-supporting crowd. Given the intense rivalry between them and the Kansas City Chiefs, this is no real surprise. Sports events often evoke strong emotions, and fans do express disapproval towards individuals associated with opposing teams.
"Taylor’s lighthearted reaction to the booing demonstrates her ability to handle such situations gracefully and shows what a megastar she is.". She added: "This incident is unlikely to cause harm to Taylor’s reputation. She has a vast and dedicated fan base and during her own career has been accustomed to public scrutiny. While the booing incident has garnered media attention, it is unlikely to have a lasting negative impact on her standing as a megastar.”.
However, the Eagles' fans weren't the only ones to give Taylor the cold shoulder. Following the game, US President Donald Trump couldn't resist an opportunity to roast Taylor after she was booed by NFL fans. The President arrived at New Orleans' Caesar's Superdome to cheers on Sunday as he took his seat as the first sitting president to attend the finale. Having previously backed the Kansas City Chiefs to win, the 78-year-old then made a hasty departure as his chosen team were dominated by 40-14 victors the Philadelphia Eagles.
But the President couldn't resist the urge to have a pop at the Karma hitmaker. Taking to Truth Social, Trump ruthlessly blasted the 35-year-old, sharing contrasting clips of his applause versus boos which emanated from the crowd when she was projected on stadium screens. He also shared another user's post with the caption: "Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed," while writing in a separate post: "The only one that had [sic] a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!".
