Born in Traverse City, Michigan in 1981, Whyte Maloney played the guitar, violin, cello and drums from a young age. He then went on to become the frontman of the progressive rock band Indulge in 2005 before starting to work on solo music after 10 years of touring with the band.

His debut solo album Where I’ve Been was produced by Sean O’Dwyer, who had previously worked with The Black Crowes and Pink Floyd. For three years from 2010 he toured the US, before auditioning for The Voice in 2014. Performing Lights by Journey, he turned the chairs of all four coaches, which also included Adam Levine, Shakira and Usher, and decided to work with Team Blake.

In the years since he continued working on his own music and last year performed at the opening of the Las Vegas venue Ole Red, co-owned by Shelton.
