The third series of The White Lotus starts on Monday, and one episode set at the luxurious Thailand resort features a guest appearance from an award-winning Hollywood star. The popular mystery drama series returns to Sky TV with a new cast that includes Sex Education’s Aimee Lou Wood, Fallout star Walton Goggins, The Leftovers’ Carrie Coon and Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs. They play holidaymakers who arrive for a stay at the five star Thailand hotel, and in the second episode Jason Isaac’s businessman Timothy takes a phone call from his associate, Kenny. Timothy is on vacation at the resort with his wife (played by Parker Posey) and grown up kids, but it is clear his mind is elsewhere as he urgently awaits a call from Kenny. The call finally comes during one of the iconic White Lotus dinners and a highly agitated Kenny gives Timothy news he does not want to hear.

The voice of Kenny on the other end of the phone may be familiar to fans of the Oscar-winning movie Everything Everywhere All At Once as it is none other than the movie’s male star, Ke Huy Quan. It has not yet been revealed whether Quan will appear in person in later episodes of the series, but he has plenty of other projects in the works. The Vietnam-born actor, who rose to fame as a child star in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as Indiana’s sidekick Short Round, and in the 1985 adventure The Goonies, found himself back in the limelight in 2022 at the age of 50 for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, for which he won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award.

He has since appeared in the Disney+ Marvel series Loki, and is currently starring in the action movie Love Hurts alongside Ariana DeBose, which is in cinemas now. Next up, he will appear in the Netflix movie The Electric State with Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt, which is released on 14 March. The White Lotus is now on its third series, with each of the previous seasons focusing on the various secrets the guests are keeping to themselves, and the mysterious death that happens at the beginning of each season.

The first season was set in Hawaii and featured actors including Sydney Sweeney and Jennifer Coolidge, while the second season was set in Sicily and featured Leo Woodall, who is currently starring as Renee Zellweger’s toyboy in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Theo James and Sopranos star Michael Imperioli. In an interview with The Mirror and other outlets, season three star Aimee Lou Wood revealed that filming the show is very unique, as the cast live at the hotel where the series is set during production.

“The negative, which also makes it so good I think, is the claustrophobic nature of living where you’re filming,” she explained. “There’s no separation. Usually when you’re filming away, you get in a car at the end and you go home to your own space, whereas that is not the case with The White Lotus. It’s seven months of living on a set. It feels exactly like The Truman Show.”. For more of the latest showbiz news and gossip, follow Mirror Celebs on TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Threads.
