The London renting market is a scary place, but Reddit users believe they've found one of the most 'miserable' lettings. Renters looking for a studio apartment in London can move into a 'delightful' studio apartment in a 'great location' for £899 per month, according to Open Rent on Rightmove.

However, Reddit users have blasted the property in London's Palmers Green, Enfield, approximately an hour-long drive from Oxford Street, for its 'depressing' size. While the price includes bills, the entirety of the flat fits into one tight square, with the bed next to the front door and the front door bordering the kitchen sink and oven.

It's caused quite a stir on Reddit, with one writing: 'Unbelievable. How have our governments allowed the housing market to get to this disgraceful state.'. The letting agency explained: We are proud to offer this delightful one-bedroom, one-bathroom studio flat in a great location.

'Available to move in from 23 February 2025, this property benefits from garden access. The property is offered furnished. 'Viewing highly recommended. Contact OpenRent today for more details or to arrange a viewing.'. A property in London has hit the market for £899-per-month - but Reddit users have criticised its 'depressing' size.

The zone five flat, which requires a £899 deposit, comes furnished and has garden access. Despite the amenities, Reddit users took the platform to explain their shock at the property, with one writing: 'I've seen nicer rooms in Scandinavian prisons'. A second wrote: 'Wow, so I get to pay for the privilege of sleeping in a room that stinks of my stale dinner!'.

Another added: 'I'm starting to understand why some people smell like their cooking depending on what they're making, the smell can easily seep into the wardrobe. 'I'm guessing the bathroom is past that door? If not, that kitchen sink is going to serve a dual purpose if the shared bathroom is occupied.'.

However, others claimed the property is a 'steal,' with one adding: 'This is actually not even that bad! There's a proper oven and a washing machine! And the shower isn't in the middle of the room. The bar is so low.'. The tiny property comes furnished with a washing machine, bed, oven, wardrobe, and dining table.

It comes after an advert for a London rental property sparked outrage online after the tenants outlined a very strict list of requirements for their prospective flatmates. Last year, Natty Kasambala, a writer from London, posted screenshots of the Dalston flat listing on X, after she spotted it on a Facebook group.

The listing, which was written by the couple who currently live there, explained how they're looking for a person who 'hates overly fried dishes' and whose toiletries can fit in a 'single wooden box' to occupy the spare room. Describing the property, they wrote: 'We are looking for a professional to occupy a spacious bedroom in a two-bed flat.

'The room comes furnished [...] The flat has very high ceilings, wooden floors and big windows. It is a southeast-facing flat that becomes annoyingly bright during the day.'. Outlining their dream flatmate, the couple continued: 'You will be considerate, tidy and clean, preferably with a minimalist attitude.

'You will have your own tableware, kitchen utensils and pans, which must fit in a cupboard assigned to you. 'You will hate overly fried dishes that stink the place up. Your personal belongings in the bathroom must fit in a wooden box provided.'. Admitting that this might sound 'stringest', they added: 'We are trying to keep the flat clutter-free as this flat doesn't have storage space and everything is exposed.'.

Giving insight into their lives, the pair continued: 'You will be sharing with a professional couple. We smoke in the flat and there might be cat(s) around as I sometimes catsit.'. They signed off the post by writing: 'No deposit required but at least a two-week notice should you wish to move out at any point.'.

Shocked by the bizarre requirements, Natty shared the post with her X followers, which has now been viewed by almost 650,000 users. She wrote: 'A genuine ad for a £1000 room in Dalston. Why do I feel suffocated in my own home just reading this?'. One outraged user replied: 'Why do I feel like if my flannel or shampoo poked out the top of the box, they'd just throw it away while I was out and then act like it was fault?'.
