Less than a week after Bill Belichick's shock move to become the head coach at North Carolina, his longtime quarterback Tom Brady shared his thoughts on the 72-year-old's move to college football. Brady shared during Sunday's Fox broadcast of Eagles-Steelers that he could barely wrap his head around Belichick opting for a college gig as opposed to a pro job.

Belichick had never coached in the college ranks before, with the individual challenges of the transfer portal, recruiting, and NIL making it a separate entity than the NFL. Due to more power being with the players than ever before, college football has never been more similar to the NFL, even with some stark differences.

Brady and Belichick spent 20 seasons together in New England as head coach and starting quarterback, winning six Super Bowls together. 'It kind of blew me away when I heard the news,' Brady said. Tom Brady was shocked that Bill Belichick took the head coaching job at North Carolina.

Brady didn't think Belichick was interested in making the move to Chapel Hill like many others. 'I didn’t think that was an opportunity he was looking at, but they’re getting, obviously, a tremendous coach, and being in that locker room with him for as many years … those guys are going to play very hard, he’s going to coach them well, it’s a great benefit for all those players who are going to that program cause they’re getting the best coach that the NFL has ever seen, and now he’s at a college level.'.
