Childcare costs in the US are soaring, and families are under increasing financial stress. We want to hear from you. Childcare is one of the biggest expenses for families – often surpassing what they pay for rent. In Washington DC, for example, the average annual cost of infant care tops $24,000, according to the Economic Policy Institute, more than a quarter of the median family income and more than three-quarters of a full-time minimum wage salary there. It’s also nearly five times the price of public in-state college tuition.

As these costs continue to soar, parents are under increasing financial stress. We want to hear from parents of young children about your childcare costs. We’d also like to know what you would do with that money instead if you didn’t have to pay for childcare. Our team is hoping to share stories of real parents in order to raise awareness and find solutions. You can share your experiences of US childcare using this form.
