Lucas Paqueta has suffered a fresh ankle injury during West Ham training. It remains unclear how severe the injury is but Standard Sport understands Paqueta appeared devastated as he withdrew early from a session at the club’s Rush Green training ground on Tuesday. Paqueta will now be assessed by the club’s medical staff. The Brazilian had been starting to look back to his best during the early weeks of Graham Potter’s tenure, and another spell on the sidelines would come as a major blow to the new manager.
Paqueta has played a key role for West Ham this season, and at the weekend returned from a minor knock to play the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to London rivals Brentford. Carlos Soler is most likely to deputise, as he has done previously this season, should Paqueta’s ankle injury prove to be serious. The Hammers visit Arsenal at the Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday. Potter will address the media on Thursday.
