Follow ALL of the updates below... ADAM AZIM reckons the tallest order of his career will be a battle of the mountain men. The 22-year-old super-lightweight starlet faces grizzled 35-year-old former world champion Sergey Lipinets at Wembley arena tonight. The Slough ace recognises the threat posed by the Kazakhstan banger, who brutalised Azim’s former training partner Robbie Davies Jr last time out.
But he believes his ancestors descending from the steepest peaks of Pakistan, in the Kashmir region, means he will finish the night topping the show and standing over his floored foe. The starlet said: “I am not underestimating or looking past Sergey Lipinets, he has good power and he is strong. “He is from Kazakhstan so he comes from the mountains and is a very rugged and tough person. “But, when he faces me, I will show him that being Kashmiri means I am from the mountains as well.
"And in Pakistan that is where all the warriors are from.”. Azim had only just started primary school when Lipinets - who won the IBF’s 10st title in 2017 - kicked off his KO career in the tough Eastern European amateur ranks. In his prime, the compatriot of knockout master Gennady Golovkin, only lost to elite operators like Mikey Garcia and Jaron Ennis. But Azim believes the veteran’s unquestionable bravery could be his undoing.
Azim explained: “He has all the experience over me but we can fight on the inside or the outside and I can attack him or counter him, and I will still win. “I want to take him out inside six rounds and, if he comes forward at me, it could be even earlier because it makes it easier for me to knock them out. “He is a former world champion so this win will be a breakout victory for me, that announces me to the world for huge fights in 2025.
“I have been European champion and now I want the world champions next and if I make a statement against Lipinets then I want to step up to the next level. “Lipinets is a great fighter, I have full respect for him, but he hasn’t faced anyone like me yet.”.
