Fans of Premier League football club AFC Bournemouth have been lauded for helping out a homeless man at the World Darts Championship. A group of Cherries supporters had a spare ticket to the action at Ally Pally on Wednesday after one of their friends dropped out at the last minute.

Rather than selling it on or letting it go to waste – the Bournemouth fans decided to give the ticket to a homeless man – and brought him with them. The Cherries fans then fully paid for his evening at the darts, as well as a night at a Travelodge hotel, so that he did not have to sleep on the street.

The Bournemouth supporters have gone viral on social media for helping out the homeless man, with a post on the Football Away Days Facebook page racking up over 6,000 likes, 300 comments and 400 shares in under 24 hours. ‘Absolutely superb!’ @CeltMicky posted on X. ‘Love it. Can’t beat humility and giving someone a real treat. That guy will be forever grateful.’.

Newcastle United fan @Geordie1723 added: ‘Fantastic to see some people do care about others less fortunate.’. @NashNash194 said: ‘As a Villa fan, got to say yet again football clubs are showing what great people they are. Well done you Bournemouth fans.’.

Norwich City supporter @markland_jane posted: ‘You’re all legends. What a wonderful thing to do. If only the whole world were like this.’. Chelsea fan @hlickandstick added: ‘What a lovely gesture from the boys. Well done fellas. Not enough of this going on.’.
