Ange Postecoglou has revealed why Micky van de Ven misses out on Tottenham's Premier League trip to Brentford. Van de Ven made his injury comeback on Thursday night in Spurs' 3-0 Europa League win against Elfsborg and the side benefited hugely from his presence. He had not played since the 4-3 defeat by Chelsea on December 8 after sustaining a hamstring injury. But Postecoglou has named a new Premier League partnership of Archie Gray and Ben Davies to face the Bees.
New signing Kevin Danso, who was confirmed on Sunday morning, was not registered in time to make the squad. Postecoglou said of Van de Ven: '[I'm] just trying to manage his minutes, we had a look at it, it's a quick turnaround and I spoke with the medical team and Micky himself. Micky van de Ven has once again been left out of Tottenham's team - just three days after his return from injury. Ange Postecoglou explained they are trying to 'manage his minutes' amid his recovery.
'We'll just keep him on ice this week and give him another week of training and hopefully he'll be ready for the end of the week.'. Van de Ven was taken off at half-time against Elfsborg in a planned swap with Radu Dragusin, who went on to get injured. Tottenham have suffered without their star defender, slipping to 16th in the Premier League and only collecting four points in their last 10 games. However, they are still in four competitions and remain favourites for the Europa League, having qualified for the last 16.
