Arne Slot insists he doesn't need January signings as Liverpool boss offers his verdict of Trent Alexander-Arnold's performance in 2-2 draw with Man United

Arne Slot is prepared to let the January window pass without Liverpool making a new signing as he put his trust in his current squad to deliver glory. Liverpool have only done two significant pieces of business since Slot became their new head coach last summer, signing Federico Chiesa for £10million and securing a £33m deal for Georgia international goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili to arrive at the end of this campaign.
There is a thirst amongst supporters to see Fenway Sports Group, Liverpool’s owners, back Slot financially to give the squad a lift as they head into the defining point of the season when the objective will be to win the Premier League. But Slot, who is preparing for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final with Tottenham, is not actively looking for new blood to arrive and, crucially, thinks the current roster has enough depth and talent to help meet their objectives.
‘It would be a bit weird, after what I told you in the summer, if I said we are very happy with the team and tell you something different now,’ said Slot, who hopes key midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will have recovered from illness to travel to London.
‘But this club has always looked at the market. We did that with the goalkeeper we don’t have now (Mamardashvili) but the team is in a good place. Unfortunately, Joe Gomez is injured so we go from four centre-backs to three but, otherwise, I am very happy with the team.’.
